Key Stage 3
At Key Stage Three, the curriculum builds on the knowledge, understanding and skills that pupils have gained at primary school. Our aim is to develop students' understanding across all subjects, developing the necessary skills and therefore ensuring that all of our students continue to make progress. All students follow a broad and balanced curriculum throughout their two-year Key Stage Three.
In Year 7, our students are taught: English, Maths, Science, Geography, History, Religious Studies, German, Performing Arts, Computer Science, Design Technology, Physical Education and Personal Social Health Education. Students are taught in mixed ability groups for the majority of their subjects, but are regrouped across an equal mixed ability half year group for English, maths and science.
In Year 8, our students follow a similar curriculum to the one they studied in Year 7. During Year 8, our students start their preparation for GCSE and our three year Key Stage Four. It is during this year, also, that they will make their subject selections (options) for Key Stage Four.
We pride ourselves on the level of academic and pastoral support given to our pupils. Our Progress Leaders (one for each year group), form tutors and Teaching Assistants work together to support, encourage and oversee the personal development and academic progress of students in preparation for their Key Stage Four and Key Stage Five curriculum.
Furthermore, our PSHE and Citizenship programme encourages our students to develop excellent attitudes and behaviours in order to take their place as responsible members of a modern British society.
