We strongly believe that in today’s world, where advances in technology and travel have narrowed the physical gap between people in different countries and where there is greater globalisation in business and finance, our students need to be truly global citizens. We therefore want our students to gain a knowledge and understanding of different people, groups and nations and to have respect for different religions, cultures, ways of life and points of view.
To this end, we have been active in developing a strong international dimension to our school and we have been recognised for this work by receiving the Full International School Award from 2013 – 16. Our international links and recent opportunities include:
- Malawi Expedition 2014
- Barcelona Trip
- Berlin Trip
- German Exchange programme
- Regular PE water sports, activity trips and sports tours to France and Belgium
- Humanities study visits to Iceland, Spain and Germany
- Ski trips in The USA
International School Award
Guilsborough Academy in Northampton has been awarded the British Council’s prestigious International School Award in recognition of its work to bring the world into the classroom.
The International School Award is a badge of honour for schools that do outstanding work in international education, such as through links with partner schools overseas. Fostering an international dimension in the curriculum is at the heart of the British Council’s work with schools, so that young people gain the cultural understanding and skills they need to live and work as global citizens.
