World Book Day Thursday 7 March
On Thursday 7th March, the Academy will be celebrating World Book Day. As always, we encourage students and staff to dress up as a character from a favourite book or graphic novel. We welcome students from all year groups getting involved and prizes will be made available for the most imaginative and creative costumes. Recent years have seen Gandalf, Thing One and Thing Two, The Snow Queen’s queen, Willy Wonka, Darth Vader, Mr Hoppy, Alice and Wonderland’s Playing Cards and Inspector Poirot – a real celebration from a breadth of literature. (Please note, we discourage students coming in as Harry Potter ‘muggles’ or The Diary of a Wimpy Kid’s Greg Heffley, as students may appear to just be in non-uniform.)
All week (w/c 4th March), we will be celebrating books and reading across the Academy: in assemblies, lessons and activities in the LRC at breaks and lunches. Students may even wish to challenge themselves to reading a new book that week, and writing a book review, or spin-off short story, for the Academy newsletter!
We look forward to the costume judging commencing!
