Guilsborough Academy students achieved excellent A level results this year. With a pass rate of 100%, 78% of grades achieved at A*-C and 47% of grades at levels A*-B students have achieved their goals. These results reflect an improving trend over the past 4 years for the school.
Mrs Staley, Guilsborough’s headteacher, said: “We are delighted with the achievements of our students and wish them continued success in their future careers. As a year group they have worked extremely hard, and deserve to have done well. These results will enable them to go on to achieve their goals."
Students have performed well across the board, but a special mention goes to who achieved all A*/A grades: Cheska Ball, Christina Ditchburn-Sosa, Eliot Hedley and Hollie Ward; with Fiona Gaunt, Emily Herbert, Josh Lorimer and Ed Nicholson all achieving 2 or more A*/A grades.
A special mention must also go to Ed Nicholson, who is one of only 6 students nationally this year to be accepted on to the prestigious IBM internship programme.
"We are immensely proud of our students, who have worked hard and achieved some brilliant results. They are now able to move onto the exciting next stage in their careers. This success would not be possible without the dedication and support from both staff at Guilsborough and parents/carers."
In a year when achieving a place at medical school has been more difficult than ever we are delighted that all five students wishing to become doctors have achieved their grades: Cheska Ball, Josh Lorimer, Christina Ditchburn- Sosa Emily Herbert and Millie Tee. Elliot Hedley has also done exceptionally well to secure his place to study Veterinary Science.
