Purple Bow Day

This week (week beginning 6 February) has been Safer Internet Day and has also been used to promote the Academy's own initiative, Purple Bow Day, led by Year 11 students, to promote support for Cyberbullying.

On Monday 6 February, Chief Inspector Lara Alexander-Lloyd and Shaun Johnson from the Arson Task Force led an assembly with Year 9 to promote safe use of the Internet and promote Purple Bow Day within our school. They  celebrated a group of our students, now in Year 11, who won the County Schools Challenge with their project that sought to raise awareness of Cyberbullying through Purple Bow Day.

On Tuesday 7 February, Safer Internet Day,  students came to school in non-uniform. Each student paid £1 and received a purple bow and an information card. Students wore the bow on their clothing.

All this week assemblies have been run by Mr Harvey, Mr Grimsey, and the two Year 11 students who won the County School Challenge, to promote internet safety.
