HBHGTeam 2018 19 web

Guilsborough is a large, rural 11-18 school, strongly committed to its local community, which became a Multi Academy Trust in April 2014, with Naseby Church of England Primary School joining our academy family. We are accredited as an International School and a National Support School for our work to support other schools.

The majority of our sixth formers are students who stay on with us following successful Year 11 studies. Others join the Sixth Form from other schools, both inside and outside the county.

This year the Academy's A-Level performance was the best ever with over 19% of entries achieving A or A* and over 79% grades A*-C with 99% achieving A*-E.

The vast majority of our students who applied to university have been able to access their first choice instituion. This success includes medical students and those aiming for 'Russell Group' top Universities; we encourage all of our students to aim high and support them in every way we can. We are fortunate to have excellent facilities with our purpose built Sixth Form Centre, which offers a very pleasant environment (refurbished this year) in which to work. The students appreciate the feel of being in an 'adult' part of the building and enjoy their space.

I would like to thank all parents and prospective Guilsborough Academy Sixth From students who attended the Sixth Form Open Evening on the 1st November 2018. The evening was full of live interactive lessons which gave students an insight into quality first teaching that they will experience within our Sixth Form. In addition, there were opportunities to discuss pathways post 18, instilling our ethos of ‘believe it achieve it’, speak to subject teachers and discover the wider life of sixth from through interaction with our current year 12 and 13 students.

We are very proud of our students at Guilsborough Academy and I feel the atmosphere that our year 13 student HGHB and middle leadership team created within the committee fair area and the way our students interacted with students and parents throughout the night amplifies this sense of pride across the school.

What next? Our application for Sixth Form entry for September 2019 is now open and students will be made aware of their sixth form interview day and time before we break up for Christmas. Furthermore, I am delighted to announce that we will be holding a taster morning for prospective students early on in January so that they are able to fully immerse themselves into sixth form life and experience 30 minute lessons as well as hearing about enrichment activities that we can offer your son/daughter here at Guilsborough Academy Sixth Form.
