Year 7 Students Support Kevin Sinfield’s Inspirational 7 in 7 Challenge

Year 7 students and PE staff were proud to cheer on rugby legend and charity hero Kevin Sinfield as he passed through Northamptonshire during the local leg of his Running Home for Christmas challenge. Joined by England rugby coach Steve Borthwick, Sinfield’s incredible effort embodies resilience, compassion, and a commitment to making a difference for those affected by Motor Neurone Disease (MND).

Kevin Sinfield has raised nearly £10 million through four previous annual challenges to support MND charities. This year, he’s taking on an even greater test: running 50km (31 miles) each day for seven consecutive days, covering a total of 230 miles. His efforts aim to raise £777,777—honouring the shirt number of his late friend and former teammate Rob Burrow, who passed away from MND in June. So far, the challenge has raised over £430,000 for six MND charities.

On Day Six, Sinfield’s journey began at the Motor Neurone Disease Association headquarters in Moulton Park, Northampton. Along the way, he made stops at several local landmarks, including Brixworth Cricket Club, Naseby Village Hall, and Fleckney Baptist Church, before finishing at Leicester Tigers’ Welford Road Stadium. A touching moment came as he swapped his running gear mid-route—from the black, green, and gold of Northampton Saints to the green, red, and white of Leicester Tigers—celebrating unity in the fight against MND.

A Community Moment
For Guilsborough students and staff, witnessing Sinfield’s determination up close was unforgettable. His 7 in 7 challenge—broken into seven-kilometre blocks each day—serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of perseverance and the impact of collective support.
