On Tuesday 28th January, during periods 1 and 2, our school had the distinct pleasure of welcoming Tony Henhall, Alastair Dewar, Amelie Crawford, and Mohamed Kalair, STEM Ambassadors from STEM Learning, into our classrooms. Their visit provided our students with invaluable insights into the diverse and exciting world of STEM careers.
The ambassadors shared their unique career journeys, offering a glimpse into the day-to-day realities of their roles. This personal touch brought to life the various paths one can take within the STEM fields, inspiring our students to envision their futures in these dynamic industries.
Moreover, the ambassadors engaged our students with a practical maths task directly related to their jobs. This hands-on activity allowed students to experience first-hand how mathematical concepts are applied in real-world contexts, making their learning both relevant and exciting. It was a fascinating look at how maths powers various aspects of the workplace and highlighted the importance of these skills in solving real-life problems.
A huge thank you to our guest speakers for their time and dedication in inspiring the next generation and to Miss Hunt, Director of Careers, and Miss Heritage, Director of Mathematics for facilitating. The students thoroughly enjoyed the experience and have gained valuable knowledge about the practical applications of maths. This visit has undoubtedly sparked a greater interest in STEM careers among our students.
Stay tuned for more exciting events and opportunities that connect our students with the real-world applications of their studies.
